| Brian Irwin/Clark Becker- Drums Tom Connolly- Bass Mat Jones - Vocals, Guitar Mat Jones is hard to nail down. His music has been described as Alt-country, insurgent country, Texas Grunge, roots rock, punktry, etc. The labels don’t really work. He plays an angry, sobering combination of booze, truth, love, lies, blood, guts, frustration and alienation. Mat Jones drags out songs perfectly suited for being pissed off at the one you love. Born and raised in Texas, his early childhood was characterized by a steady diet of country music, Elvis Presley and a “typically catholic fear of God.” Jones brought his first guitar from a pawn shop at the age of twelve, “a $100 Les Paul knock off that fed back like hell.” It was the focus of a pretty standard rebellion, devoted to the early punk, metal, and grunge records he grew into. Jones' seemingly disparate influences evolved into something that has been described as “the sound of Johnny Cash and Kurt Cobain in a drunken bar fight." In 2005, Jones released his debut album "August." In 2007, Mat reconvened with Producer Brian Irwin, to produce "The Jonestown Revival." A decidedly heavier album, "TJR" picks up exactly where "August" left off. Drawing from a wider pool of influences, it's 12 tracks mine Southern Rock, Blues, folk, and more in a dense mix. "The Jonestown Revival" is due out in October of 2007. In the fall of 2007, Mat Jones relocated from Los Angeles to Dallas, TX to provide a more centralized hub for touring.
